Acrylic - product of choice for boat repairs

Updated: Apr 2

For boat building and boat repairs, acrylic is the go-to choice for sailing the seven seas ... and for getting it ready for sale!

Anyone who has owned a boat understands what a treasured and well-loved possession it is, and we have had many clients come to us for help with repairing their boats. Being out in the sun and sea can wear one out even for the toughest boats and they need more than a lick of paint. Others bring an old boat that needs rejuvenating for sale.

Acrylic is the preferred material for boat repairs. It is more affordable than glass and polycarbonate. What people may not be aware of is it's actually even more impact resistant than glass, up to 17x! It also has better clarity, transmitting 92% of light. Those who enjoy spending a long afternoon cleaning their boats will be happy to know that it is an easy-to-clean material too.

Here is one boat window repair work we did for a client. When the boat first came to us, the windows were very old, cracked and crazed. We replaced the old windows with new UV protected tinted windows. And she left our hands bright, beautiful and new.

It came up a treat for the client who later managed to not only sell the boat but even got a really good price for it.

We love the work we do as it's more than just applications and material. We transform the old into the new and we bring life back to important possessions. We can help increase sustainability and shelf life. In our modern age where it is easy to simply buy, discard and buy again, we value respecting quality and craftsmanship. We are proud of every product that leaves our doors and is ready for a new life.

With over 30 years' experience in all things plastic from engineering to design to manufacturing, we work across a wide variety of different plastic materials such as Acrylic, Polycarbonate, CA, Acetal, Nylon, PVC, HD/LDPE. We understand the unique characteristics of each type and can offer the best choice of plastic for your project.
